It all started here at SOS Veterans Assistance for me. SOS is not only about helping veterans get their benefits but also helping us veterans to educate ourselves about the VA.
I can remember listening to Louie’s video, that’s what inspired me to pick up the phone and make the call. Before that, I had given up hope on dealing with the VA. I didn’t know where to start. After dealing with a VSO at the VA, I walked out of his office more confused than when I came in there. I got a postcard from
SOS Veterans Assistance that I let sit on my nightstand for 3 weeks.
I called SOS and there was no answer, within 10 minutes Louie called me and that’s when the schooling started. Louie had a very professional
approach and he took the time to listen and hear me. Talking to him jared my memory. He said it was up to me if I wanted to continue to seek my benefits. Louie explained to me in detail their mission of helping all veterans who come to them. A week later I had a conference call with Louie and Ed. I felt very comfortable speaking with Louie and Ed.
From there the ball started rolling. They got all the paperwork filled out for me, but I had to do my part. Anytime I emailed Louie about something I didn’t understand or a question he would get back to me right away. SOS is not behind me, they have been walking on the side of me through the process. I would say this was the best phone call I made last year.

I filed for VA disability benefits over 10 years ago. The process was time consuming and stressful. I did not understand much of it, and unwittingly left out many of my conditions. I contacted the VA for answers but ended up feeling like I was just another claim number. They definitely did not have my best interest in mind. I received a denial letter within a year. I let it go at that because I couldn’t stomach enduring additional frustration.
In August 2023, a family member told me about SOS Veterans Assistance. When I reached out, I immediately felt like they were in my corner. The best part was there was no stress, or frustration. I filled out the initial packet and they took it from there. Just before Christmas, I was awarded 30% for one of my conditions. About a week later I received my first payment. I am still waiting for additional decisions. No worries- SOS is still in my corner, and their goal is getting me to 100%.
Were it not for SOS Veterans Assistance, I would never have made another attempt to get the benefits I deserve! The SOS team are experts in the process. I spread the word every chance I get. If you served your country, you deserve compensation for service-related conditions. SOS will help. The fee is well worth it. I got all of it back and much more when I received my first payment with back pay.
