"I don't need the money."
Time to time we will run in to a Veteran who remarks they’ve been ver blessed and don’t need the money from their benefit rating.
In a split second I acknowledge this blessing and ask them if they feel a need to pass this blessing on.
The confusion on their face is real and I ask if I may continue.
The request is granted.
Here’s how I present the power they have to do MORE, FAR MORE, than they ever thought possible.
“Do you feel if you could give your chosen organization, church, cause, etc., an extra $3,000 per month, it would do so much for those not blessed like you?”
The answer is obvious.
“Great!” I respond. “I’m not done. Now, what if this money was GIVEN to you for the rest of your life and you never were taxed on it and it was APRROVED and PROVIDED to you by the U.S. government?”
Another more quizzical look.
I finish…”Let us assist you in applying for and receiving your VA disability benefit rating. All monies you receive, you donate to your cause giving you a totally legitimate TAX DEDUCTION.”
It’s the epitome of the classical, “win-win.”

If you know a Veteran who isn’t receiving his or her benefits, whether they need it or not, tell them it’s theirs.
They just need to go for it.
